Recently, a Malaysian CEO died after his cell phone burst into flames. Though, it's unknown what phone he was using, the CEO of Cradle Fund Nazrin Hassan was said to utilize gadgets from BlackBerry and Huawei.

Unexpectedly, this isn't the first time a cell phone has exploded. There have been cases before as well, even in India. One of the greatest reasons for these explosions is battery. Smartphones come with lithium-particle batteries, which warm themselves and may wind up more sultry/hot while being charged.
Here are tips to preventing your mobile phone from bursting into flames:

1. Use the original charger provided
It's essential to use the appropriate charger for your smartphone - manufacturer's original charger. Even if the charger gets lost or doesnt work anymore, replace it with the same branded charger.

2. Avoid charging for extended hours
Simply stop the practice of charging your phone for extended period of time, as this may prompt overheating. Don't forget to unplug once the telephone is charged.

3. Don't charge your phone in direct sunlight
Abstain from charging your cell phone in direct daylight or other hot spots like close to the car's dashboard, especially for long periods of time. This may exacerbate the heating issue. The safest temperature is typically 0 to 45 degree centigrade.

4. Make sure not to drop phone frequently
It's difficult to foresee how a smartphone will respond after a drop — it relies upon the external and internal damage it has sustained. A drop can dislocate the battery separator between cathode and anode, which can lead to an increase in temperature while charging. This may cause the phone to burst up in flames.

5. Get your phone repaired only at authorised centers.
This step is a must to follow. Make sure to repair your smartphone only at authorized centres. This is vital to guarantee that its hardware and original parts are not affected or replaced.
